Johfra stond o.a. bekend om de dierenriem-posters van Verkerke. Deze 12 fantastisch-
realistische schilderijen zijn over de hele wereld verspreid, maar de Nederlandse musea
liepen niet weg met het werk van de fijnschilder. Johfra woonde voor het grootste
gedeelte van zijn leven in Frankrijk. (Duur: 40 minuten, Muziek: Prokofiev)

On the 6th of November 1990 Johfra writes in his diary that I, a son of a colleague-painter,
Victor Linford, will be filming at his house that day. It's a day he won't be painting.
I wanted to explore the relationship between the artist and his environment. We'll see the
village Le Moustier in Dordogne, his home at the watermill and many of his paintings and drawings.

His wife Ellen Lórien is also a painter and during their life together she was above all the manager
of her husband. She made sure that Johfra had exhibitions in numerous countries. Ellen is still at work
with her own art today. A video is being made on her life and work.

Reviewing Johfra's series of works it seems likely that the imagery was an inspiration for films such as
Tolkiens 'The lord of the Rings' and other modern phantasy films. In fact Johfra was one of the founders
of fantastic-realism and his influence is here still today.
